The Haunted Mansion is the only Disney attraction to be placed in a different land in each park around the world. New Orleans Square, Liberty Square, Fantasyland, Frontierland and Mystic Point in HK when their version of the mansion opens in 2013. And with the exception of the one in Tokyo, they each have their own architecture that blends with their sorroundings.
When Hong Kong Disneyland opened in 2005, it didn't have a Haunted Mansion (as well as many other classic attractions). Now they're working on expanding the park and adding 3 new mini-lands, one of which is Mystic Point, home of Mystic Manor (which will open in 2013).. and even though it has a completely different storyline than the Haunted Mansion, it actually plays the same part in the park as a "haunted house".. and it looks ridiculously amazing! Here's more info on the attraction, if anybody's interested [link]
I went with a less saturated look for this as I felt it conveyed better the "mystic" theme. The frame is once again inspired by Rolly Crump's concepts for Musem of the Weird.
I've gone to Hong Kong Disneyland recently, and they've almost finished the area. At the end of Grizzly Gulch, there are the gates leading to Mystic Point, and visitors can look at the mansion through the gates. It doesn't look haunted, but it's beautiful all the same, and has an Arabian/Victorian/Indian/British Empire look and feel to it. I really look foward to the day when Mystic Manor opens!
The artwork is beautiful but I looked at the sneak peek and from the story line of the ride, it doesn't seem too haunted to me. It sounds more like something from an Indiana Jones movie. No offence is intended towards anybody. Keep up the good work you did a great job.
