Old Lady Houseby =Mr-Bluebird

This is the first of some backgrounds I did for a short animation a friend of mine is working on.
The short film is actually live action. The animation sequence is for the backstory of the protagonist.

This is was pretty fun to work on as I had never done finished backgrounds like this, with color and whatnot. Plus, in animation, the backgrounds are usually what get me most excited.

I wanted to try something in the veins of the animated movies from the 60's, especially 101 Dalmatians, which is one of my favorites. I could stare all day at the backgrounds of that movie. They're just too gorgeous for words.
I'm pretty happy with how this turned out, regardless if it has any resemblance or not to Dalmatians (which, unfortunately I don't think it does)

REDRUM (Lee would be proud)

While I love the colour palette, I feel it's just about the only thing that isn't quite 'Dalmatians' about it. The rest of it; the lines, the 'untidy' colouring, the picture frames, panelling and staircase, all shout 101 Dalmatians. You've done a great job.

I did struggle a bit with the colors, especially since I wasn't doing the backgrounds for myself.
But do you say in terms of color choices (pink, yellow and brown) or in terms of saturation and tones?
